Honda CR-V lug nut torque by year
The CR-V is 80 ft-lb (108 N·m, 11 kgf·m) in every Honda owner's manual we checked, from the 2002 second generation to the 2022 fifth generation. The 2016–2022 manuals also print the engine oil drain bolt torque, 30 lbf∙ft (40 N∙m), with a new washer.

What the manuals show by generation
- 2nd generation (2002–2006): the 2002 and 2004 online-reference manuals say “Tighten the wheel nuts to: 80 lbf·ft (108 N·m, 11 kgf·m)” in the flat-tire section 1 5. The 2004 page also prints 40 lbf·ft (54 N·m, 5.5 kgf·m) for a second “tighten the wheel nuts” step. By the page layout, that step is for the flat tire stored on the tailgate spare holder, not for a road wheel.
- 4th generation (2012–2016): the 2016 manual gives “Wheel nut torque: 80 lbf∙ft (108 N∙m, 11 kgf∙m)” 3.
- 5th generation (2017–2022): the 2017 and 2022 manuals print the same figure 4 2.
The CR-V has not changed in any manual we read, and it matches the Civic and Accord. The Pilot is the Honda that differs. Its 3rd generation moved to 94 lbf∙ft.
Honda’s manuals don’t give a re-torque mileage or say anything about lubricating threads. They do warn: “Do not over tighten the wheel nuts by applying extra torque using your foot or a pipe” 4. The 2002 manual adds: “Have the wheel nut torque checked at the nearest automotive service facility” 1. The 2003 Pilot manual specifies a crisscross pattern. Our lug nut tightening guide covers the order and passes.
Oil drain bolt
The CR-V manuals also include an oil change procedure. The 2016, 2017 and 2022 manuals say: “Put a new washer on the drain bolt, then reinstall the drain bolt. Tightening torque: 30 lbf∙ft (40 N∙m, 4.0 kgf∙m)” 3 4 2. The drain-plug table above lists it by year. The oil drain plug torque page compares it with other makes. Replace the washer each time, as the manual says.
Years we have not checked
We have not found the 2007–2011 3rd-generation manuals on Honda’s technical site, which offers full PDFs only from 2016. The 2012–2015 years are covered only by the 2016 manual. We have also not found a 2023-and-later manual. The 2002 and 2004 drain bolt values were not in the sections we could open. No CR-V owner’s manual gives a brake caliper torque.
