Honda Accord lug nut torque by year

The Accord is 80 ft-lb (108 N·m, 11 kgf·m) in the 2017 9th-generation sedan manual (4-cylinder and V6) and the 2019 10th-generation manual. Those are the only Accord manuals we have read so far. The drain bolt differs by engine: the 2017 manual gives 30 lbf∙ft (40 N∙m) for the 4-cylinder and 29 lbf∙ft (39 N∙m) for the V6.

What the manuals show

  • 9th generation (2013–2017): the 2017 Accord Sedan manual, covering 4-cylinder and V6 models, gives “Wheel nut torque: 80 lbf∙ft (108 N∙m, 11 kgf∙m)” 1.
  • 10th generation (2018–2022): the 2019 Accord manual prints the same value 2.

That is the same 80 lbf∙ft that Honda prints for the Civic and CR-V. Engine size does not change the Accord’s wheel torque in the 2017 manual, which covers both engines with one figure.

Honda’s flat-tire pages give no re-torque mileage and say nothing about lubricated threads. They do warn: “Do not over tighten the wheel nuts by applying extra torque using your foot or a pipe” 2. Tighten in a crisscross pattern and finish with a torque wrench (lug nut tightening guide).

Oil drain bolt

The drain bolt is where the Accord splits by engine. The 2017 manual prints two values stacked beside “4-cylinder models” and “6-cylinder models” labels: “Tightening torque: 30 lbf∙ft (40 N∙m, 4.0 kgf∙m) 29 lbf∙ft (39 N∙m, 4.0 kgf∙m)” 1. We assign 30 lbf∙ft to the 4-cylinder and 29 lbf∙ft to the V6 by the layout order. The V6 Pilot also prints 29 lbf∙ft, which supports that reading, but treat the mapping as inferred. The 2019 manual gives one value, 30 lbf∙ft (40 N∙m, 4.0 kgf∙m), with “Put a new washer on the drain bolt” 2. See the drain-plug table above and the oil drain plug torque page.

Years we have not checked

We have not found the 7th-generation (2003–2007) or 8th-generation (2008–2012) owner’s manuals on Honda’s technical site. The 2013–2015 manuals are not there either. A 2016 manual exists, but we read only 2017. We have also not found a manual for the 2023-and-later 11th generation, and we did not check the Accord Hybrid and Coupe manuals. Until we read those manuals, we publish no value for those years. No Accord owner’s manual gives a brake caliper torque.
