Honda lug nut torque chart (CR-V, Civic, Accord, Pilot)

Honda's cars and the CR-V are 80 ft-lb (108 N·m, 11 kgf·m) in every manual we checked, from the early 2000s to 2022. The exception is the 2016–2022 Pilot at 94 ft-lb (127 N·m). The 2003–2008 Pilot was 80 like the rest.

Latest value shown; older generations differ, so open the vehicle page for its year. Every value is quoted from the manufacturer’s owner’s manual.

How the Honda models compare

  • 80 lbf∙ft (108 N∙m, 11 kgf∙m): the CR-V in the 2002, 2004, 2016, 2017 and 2022 manuals 1. The Civic sedan in 2001, 2017, 2021 and 2022 2. The Accord in 2017 (4-cylinder and V6) and 2019 3. The 1st-generation Pilot in 2003 and 2004.
  • 94 lbf∙ft (127 N∙m, 13 kgf∙m): the 3rd-generation Pilot, 2016–2022 4.

So Honda lug nut torque is 80 for nearly everything we have checked. The Pilot needs its own setting from 2016, and we have not found the 2009–2015 Pilot manuals that would show when it changed. We verified only Civic sedan manuals. The Si, Type R, coupe and hatchback have separate manuals.

Oil drain bolt

Honda’s 2016-and-later owner’s manuals also print the engine oil drain bolt torque, always with “Put a new washer on the drain bolt”. The CR-V, Civic sedan and 2019 Accord are 30 lbf∙ft (40 N∙m, 4.0 kgf∙m) 1. The Pilot V6 is 29 lbf∙ft (39 N∙m) 4. The 2017 Accord prints both, which we read as 4-cylinder and V6. See the oil drain plug torque page.

What the Honda manuals say

The flat-tire pages give the torque and one warning: “Do not over tighten the wheel nuts by applying extra torque using your foot or a pipe” 1. Older manuals add “Have the wheel nut torque checked at the nearest automotive service facility” and call for a crisscross pattern. We found no re-torque mileage and no statement on lubricated threads. Honda’s technical site offers full PDFs from about 2016 and section files up to about 2004, so the 2005–2015 years and 2023+ models are not covered. For the tightening order see the lug nut tightening guide.
