Chevrolet Traverse lug nut torque by year
Every Chevrolet Traverse is 140 ft-lb (190 N·m). That covers the first-generation Lambda (2009–2017), the 2018–2023 C1XX, the 2024 Traverse Limited fleet carryover and the 2024-and-later third generation. GM has printed the same value in every manual through the 2027 model year.

Values as printed in the manufacturer’s owner’s manual for the year shown, not converted. Years between two checked manuals of the same generation are assumed to share the value. Open a row to read the exact wording.
What the owner’s manual says
- Re-check: The wheel nuts should be tightened with a torque wrench to the proper torque specification after replacing.
- Threads: Never use oil or grease on bolts or nuts because the nuts might come loose. (PDF p.352)
- Threads: Never use oil or grease on bolts or nuts because the nuts might come loose. (PDF p.381)

One value through three generations
The Traverse is a three-row crossover, but its wheel torque matches the Silverado pickup: 140 ft-lb (190 N·m). We checked nine GM manuals:
- 1st generation (Lambda, 2009–2017): 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2016, all 140 lb ft (190 N·m) 1 5 6 7.
- 2nd generation (C1XX, 2018–2023): 2018 and 2019, unchanged 8 9.
- 2024 Traverse Limited: the fleet carryover of the second generation, same value 3.
- 3rd generation (2024 on): the 2024 all-new Traverse and the 2027 manual, same value 4 2.
The smaller Equinox is a different story. Its value moved between 92 and 140 ft-lb depending on the year, and it has been 100 ft-lb (140 N·m) since 2018. Don’t carry an Equinox setting over to a Traverse, or the other way round. The two sit side by side in the Chevrolet and GMC chart.
GM’s Traverse manuals do not print the stud thread size.
Re-check and thread condition
The manuals give no re-torque mileage for the Traverse. After a tire change they say “the wheel nuts should be tightened with a torque wrench to the proper torque specification after replacing” 2. They also warn: “Never use oil or grease on bolts or nuts because the nuts might come loose” 1. Use a star pattern in two or more passes and finish with a torque wrench (lug nut tightening guide).
Years we have not checked
We have not retrieved the 2017 and 2023 manuals. The 2023 link returned an error. The years on each side print the same value. The other years between checked manuals are assumed to match because the value never changed in anything we read. No Traverse owner’s manual lists an oil drain plug or brake caliper bolt torque.
